Being Late: Interpret Your Dreams

Last Updated: August 29th, 2023

Being Late Dream

The Dream

In the dream, you have an appointment, event or meeting to attend. The dream content might be specific, i.e., going to the dentist, attending a wedding or a job interview. Or the dream may focus on the appointment, and you don’t know what it is for – just that it is significant that you get there and on time!

Time is the issue here; at the beginning, it seems; you have loads of time to prepare and get to your appointment. But, suddenly – you keep looking at the clock and checking your watch; you are feeling the pressure. You start to worry you are not going to make it on time.

The journey to your appointment is no better; it is full of time delays, hindrances and disruptions. You become more frustrated, and your precious time no longer seems like your own. You have the dreaded feeling; that you are never going to reach; where you need to be.

Late – Being Late – Dream Meaning

This ‘being late’ dream can be taken more literally than most. The appointment in the dream usually represents a timetable you have set for yourself in your waking life to achieve a specific goal. This goal could be wide-ranging, from when you want to be in a relationship, to be married, to start a family, to complete a qualification, to rise to another position at work and so on.

This dream occurs when it feels like you are not meeting your set timetable, and the opportunity or goal you have set is slipping away from you. Checking the clock/watch also has meaning in the dream. It might suggest that whilst you have been carrying out some activities towards your goal – they have not been entirely successful; you may have been busy, being busy, but not specific and targeted enough to move you closer to the finish line.

In the dream, you are struggling to get to the appointment, and the more you rush and the more frustrated you become, the further away the appointment seems to get. In your waking life, this usually means that; you have become irritated and even distracted. You are likely avoiding making certain decisions, and it is the procrastination that is keeping you stuck.

Take Action

It is time to take a cold hard look at your goal or goals. What do you want to work towards? Break down every step that will get you closer to your dream. Do not waste time on meaningless activities that will not get you closer to your goal. Instead, commit to specific actions that will make a difference.

Once you get back on track, you will feel more in control; and like your time is your own again.
