Studies have also shown that this can also cut a colds life by a few days and eases the intensity of your symptoms. If you are over 65 remember you can also get a flu vaccination to protect yourself. A balanced diet can make sure your family stay warm and healthy throughout winter. Make sure you have at least one hot meal every day. Getting the right vitamins and minerals can keep your body working properly and the heat from your food can warm you up after spending a lot of time outdoors. We all know that layers are the best way of keeping warm in winter. Wearing the right kind of clothing can make a huge difference when you have to venture outside. Waterproof boots and thick socks make sure your feet are protected and layering of your clothing makes sure your body stays insulated. This is especially important when sending children off to school; make sure they have extra clothing on than they would on a typical day. Heating in your home can make sure your family and pets stay safe and warm. Heat your living room to about 18-21°C, and the rest of the house to at least 16°C. Make sure all rooms are adequately heated before you go to bed and that pets aren’t sleeping in a cold draught.
