Issues with self-esteem and self-confidence have becoming increasingly prevalent over the years. Unsurprisingly, psychological insecurities have become much more frequent in women since the rise of social media and the internet. Women are constantly comparing themselves to models and celebrities, so its no surprise that we often become unhappy with our bodies. A new study conducted by Yahoo Health has revealed exactly how self-conscious women of all ages have become…. The online survey was completed by 2,000 people nationally between the ages of 13 and 64. The results were shocking and found that…

  • 94% of female teenagers are body conscious
  • 64% of male teenagers are body conscious
  • Over half of females have negative feelings towards their body
  • Only 11% of females are positive about their body
  • 20% of males are positive about their body
  • Male teenagers are 3.5 times more confident with their body image than female teenagers
  • Just 13% of women reach a body they are happy with between the ages 35-54

Unfortunately, we live in a world where people are often subject to scrutiny by the media, which often has the biggest impact upon teenagers whose bodies are constantly changing. The results indicate that for the younger generation, whoare still trying to find a sense of identity, the struggle with body image is much more apparent. Yahoo Health reports, “It takes women half their lives to achieve half the level of body self-esteem as the average teenage male.” Once women reach an age where they are happily married, having children, or settled in a career they enjoy, they tend to have different priorities and are able to feel more fulfilled with themselves and their lives. Fortunately, the majority of body issues can be resolved. By being fit and eating healthily, you are halfway there but this is often easier said than done. A hectic work life and busy social schedule can have a big impact on the way we exercise and eat. If you have had a long day at the office, the temptation to pick up a takeaway and avoid the gym becomes much more appealing! However, it really is worth finding the time to take care of yourself. Regular exercise not only helps us get in shape, it also releases endorphins (the happy chemical!) which elevates our mood and helps us feel more comfortable in our own skin. Drinking plenty of water and getting enough sleep are also essential ingredients to feeling great. Surround yourself with positive people who make you feel good about yourself and remember the effect that a negative attitude can have on the people around you… If you are constantly talking about weight, body image and your insecurities in front of your children, you may unintentionally cause them to become insecure and critical about themselves. Becoming content and happy with your own body image, will have a resoundingly positive effect on your child’s outlook on life! Do you want to gain confidence and combat those self esteem issues for good? Why not call Psychic Light today for guidance on well-being and happiness and find out how your life can be changed with some truly positive thinking.
