New Year, Same Insecurities

We are now almost a month into 2012 and as the euphoria of the New Year dies down it is often the case that we slip back into the same routines. Worries about jobs, finances or relationships with friends and family can come back to the forefront of our minds, and can often end up eclipsing the rest of our lives.  Once these worries start to take hold it is hard to see your problems clearly and they can end up having long term negative effects, such as depression. These problems can affect any one of us, and it doesn’t make you any less of a person if they do start to take hold. We have seen that even the seemingly most secure people can have doubts and insecurities that end up affecting them to the extreme. Cricketer and celebrity Andrew “Freddie” Flintoff had a successful and affluent career with the England cricket team, however he revealed in a recent documentary ‘the hidden side of sport’ that he had been in fact suffering from depression for quite some time despite his success proving that it can even affect people who are perceived to ‘have it all.’ During the programme, it was revealed that sporting stars such as Vinnie Jones and Ricky Hatton have both also suffered with depression but never did anything about it, believing that the illness made them look weaker and wouldn’t be taken seriously, which is a common misconception. There is a lot of stigma surrounding depression; however it can be treated easily if you do something about it early. Freddie described depression as an ‘invisible injury’ that people suffer which causes many people to ignore their illness, put on a brave face and pretend that everything is ok. However talking through your problems with someone you can trust can take the weight off your shoulders and give you a fresh perspective on your life, allowing you to overcome your worries and make a fresh start in your life. A call to one of Psychic Light’s psychics can help you with a wide range of issues.
