The ship is the SS Gairsoppa, a UK cargo ship that was shot and sunk by a German U-boat during the Second World War. It had been carrying tea, silver, iron and other supplies from India to the UK. There was only one survivor, who passed away in 1992. The firm will keep 80% of what is recovered, with the rest being given to the UK government.
