Tarot Card Readings, The Basics

clock May 16, 2012 10:14 by author Charlotte

Have you ever wondered how our readers put together a tarot card reading? Or ever wanted to learn the basics for yourself? You’re not alone! Tarot has become a popular way for people to tap into their own intuition and help give guidance on what is happening in their lives. With 78 cards to work with, Tarot can be a little overwhelming and if you have just been introduced to it then it’s not uncommon to feel confused about how to use and interpret the cards. Here’s a little insight on where tarot came from and how the cards work…

History

Tarot cards were first used in the mid-fifteenth century in parts of Europe, used to play games for entertainment. It was only from the late 18th Century that the cards came to be used by psychics to offer readings of peoples past, present and potential futures. A typical deck of Tarot cards contains 78 cards, there are many different varieties of the cards, and the decks differ from country to country. The most widely used deck for English speaking countries such as the UK and America is the Rider-Waite deck. The deck was illustrated in 1909 by Pamela Coleman Smith under the guidance of A.E Waite, an academic and prominent member of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. The cards are still used to this day, and at Psychic Light we have a number of experienced readers who can give you an accurate Tarot reading. If you would like to receive a reading while our spring special offer is on then all you need to do is call 0800 915 2347 and quote “May 12.” This offer allows you to get £5 off every credit card reading, and will be available all through May from the 1st-31st, 9am to midnight so there has never been a better time to try out a Tarot reading! Before you get in touch we have a basic guide to Tarot, so you can get to grips with the cards before your reading.

Tarot Basics

As mentioned earlier, the Rider-Waite deck of Tarot cards is the most widely used in the UK, and the one you will most likely come across. The deck is made up two parts, widely known as the Major Arcana (consisting of 22 cards) and the Minor Arcana (56 cards). The Minor Arcana represent the minor ups and downs of day to day life. Its format is similar to that of regular playing cards, numbered from 1-10 with four Court cards (Page, Knight, Queen and King). However, instead of having the 4 suits of hearts, diamonds, spades and clubs, the suits are known as wands, swords, cups and pentacles. The Major Arcana represents more significant life events and is not made up of suits, but numbered from 1-21, with “The Fool” card numbered as zero. During a reading, both decks of cards are shuffled together and then laid out in different ‘spreads’. The best known spread is the 11-card Celtic Cross, however depending on the question you want to ask there are endless spreads that can be used however, if you want to start out with a simpler approach, you can select just one card to answer a question about a specific person or situation. The different spreads are interpreted by looking at the cards positions and their relation to each other, and each position in a Tarot spread has a significant meaning that will relate your life.

Having a Tarot reading done can give you guidance and clarity of mind that can help when it comes to making important decisions, as well as the possibility of finding out what is yet to come. You can interpret a Tarot reading however feels best for you and the cards can take on personal meanings in relation to your life. They are a fun and insightful way to tap into your hidden thoughts, feelings and emotions, allowing you to make important decisions about life, love, health and career. Bear in mind our special offer and call one of our readers this month and see what Tarot can help you discover.

If it is a clairvoyant reading you are interested in then we have many experienced and able readers who you can talk to. If you are unfamiliar with clairvoyance and would like to know more before you call, then read on as we have compiled a short summary of the clairvoyant ability and its history.

What is clairvoyance?

The term ‘clairvoyant’ comes from 17th Century French (clair meaning “clear” and voyant meaning “vision”) where it was used to describe the psychic ability to gain paranormal information pertaining to the future of a person, object or event. Many consider clairvoyance as the sixth sense of the brain, something that we can exercise and that allows us to sense the world beyond our psychical senses. The practise is very different from telepathy in that a clairvoyant gains knowledge from an external psychical source rather than from the mind of one person to another.

History of clairvoyance.

There have been reports of clairvoyant ability throughout history and in many different cultures. Clairvoyance has often been related to different religions and their practises. For example in Hindu, there are religious texts that list clairvoyance as ‘siddhis’ or skills that are yielded through personal discipline and meditation. In Buddhism, clairvoyance is believed to be a sign of spiritual awakening and the rising of human consciousness, elevated through breathing practises which open the energy channels and raise mental awareness. However, the first record of clairvoyance is believed to be around 1784, experienced by the Marquis de Puységuer who was treating a peasant named Victor Race. Throughout his treatment Race showed signs that he was having clairvoyant experiences. He would often go into a trance and undergo personality changes where he became fluent and articulate, as well as being able to give accurate diagnosis and prescriptions related to his illness. After coming out of the trance, Race was unaware of anything that he had said or done in that time.

Similar experiences have been recorded throughout history since then, and in modern practise clairvoyance is an accepted ability of many psychics. A common feature of those with clairvoyant abilities is the early age that they had inspirations and visions, which then continue to develop throughout their adult life. Experiences in clairvoyance were usually manifested through reports of people seeing deceased loved ones before they had learnt that they had passed. Such common accounts continue to motivate research into the phenomenon of clairvoyance.

Talking to a clairvoyant

If you feel as though you now have a better understanding of clairvoyant abilities and feel as though you would like to talk to one of our readers then we have many experienced and talented psychics available. Bobbie has been a reader for the past 25 years and has also taught clairvoyance for 18 years. She has the ability to bring someone through from spirit, stating ‘They can give important information and opinions regarding the problem in hand and confirmation of themselves, as they were when on the earth plane.’ Karen is another experienced clairvoyant and has had the ability to predict events, and has helped to give people hope and help with their personal lives. It is often hard to make decisions without knowing what the outcomes of your actions may be, however whatever your problem, you can get advice through talking to one of our clairvoyants today.

Exploring Your Spirituality

clock May 3, 2012 08:41 by author Charlotte

Finding ways to reach peace within yourself can be a struggle. The hardships of daily life can create tension with the eternal unknown, creating an anxiety within. Crafting a spiritual path can help you experience a higher power and a greater purpose in life, allowing you to find your true self. There are many avenues to explore when finding your spirituality and it can be a long journey but Psychic Light can help you along the path to finding the internal peace you have been missing.

Spirituality can be hard to define, and can mean different things to different people. Often, spirituality can get confused with religion, and while the two often work together and are very similar, you can be spiritual with no connection to any religion. Many religions regard spirituality as an essential part of the experience, however believers in spirituality accept there are many spiritual paths to go down and deny any gospel about the best path to follow, making spirituality a very individual journey. Sometimes we can feel as though we have lost ourselves and the need to grow and find who we really should be is overwhelming. Going down the path to finding your spirituality can lead you to discover the essence of your being and help create peace within yourself.

Many believe that all of us are spiritual beings and it is likely that you have had spirituality your whole life and you simply have not yet come across it or learnt to understand it. If you have not yet discovered your spirituality then be patient, there is not one way to finding it, let it unfold in front of you rather than constantly seeking it. Read books and talk to people about spirituality, take part in classes such as yoga and meditation and let yourself discover what it means to you. You will then start to learn about yourself and begin to explore your new path. Finding your spirituality can help you in all areas in your life and allow you to move past things that weren’t working. It may give you clarity in your everyday relationships, peace and well being at work and general contentment in your everyday life.

At Psychic Light we can help you to learn more about discovering your spirituality and can give you guidance and clarity as you go through your journey. One of our readers Meg found her spirituality at a very young age and can help you to uncover yours. She states: “I have many clients still with me after 25 years and their trust in me must be rewarded with the truth I give them... as yours will.” A call to Psychic Light can give you the stepping stones to finding inner peace and contentment, however this is your spiritual path and you have the choice to walk down whichever path you believe is best for you. We can guide you and give you a greater understanding of what it means to be spiritual and there has never been a better time to get in touch.

We are offering a spring special offer, with £5 off every credit card reading, to provide a reduced cost of only £27.95 for a 20 minute reading. Simply call 0800 915 2347 and quote "May 12". The offer is available all through May from the 1st-31st, and you can use it as many times as you’d like throughout the month so don’t hesitate and give us a call and explore your Spirituality with the help of Psychic Light.

5 Clues You've Found "The One"

clock April 25, 2012 10:02 by author Charlotte

The One

After breaking up with an ex who you may have considered ‘the one’ at some point, the next logical step is to move on with somebody else. Even if you’ve just been on a couple of dates it is natural to wonder whether this person could be someone you could commit to. After an old relationship has broken down it may take a while to consider whether somebody else could be the one for you, however if you are curious that you have found someone special then we have 5 signs that you may have found ‘the one’.

1. They’re trustworthy – You never have any doubts that you could trust your partner when you are not around. You feel safe and assured in your relationship and know that they would stay faithful to you. A large majority of relationships break down because the couple don’t trust each other whether it is warranted or not, so if you have somebody you can trust then they are definitely worth hanging on to!

2. You want the same things – You have the same views on marriage, careers and children and know that there won’t be any surprises later on down the line. You are confident your lives are heading down the same paths and that you are going to be a factor in the other person’s future. When you start to plan for the long term, then you know your relationship is heading in the right direction and the other person is serious about being with you.

3. They accept you for who you are – Your partner loves you for you and you feel you can be 100% comfortable around them whether it is letting them see you cry or even just without makeup! When you feel confident around each other then the true person shines through.

4. They’re there for you – They are prepared to be with you through bad times and the good, and will be a shoulder for you to cry on if you need it. They will go out of their way to support and care for you without ever expecting anything in return. Finding someone who is always trying to make your day better is a sure sign that they want to be with you and that they could be ‘the one.

5. They bring out the best in you – The effect they have on you is completely positive. You feel like a better person when you are with them, with your flaws diminished and your best characteristics amplified. Other people around you may notice the changes you are making, and you feel happier and more content in your own skin.

'The One' isn’t perfect and it is impossible for somebody to make the right decisions all the time. However if your partner is showing evidence of these signs the majority of the time then it is definitely possible that you have found the right person for you. Think positive, and you will bring out the best in each other. You deserve to be with someone who makes you happy and if you have found that person then keep hold of them and you may have a relationship that will go the distance.

Here at Psychic Light we have several psychic readers specialising in love & relationship readings. Why not speak to Wanda, a natural clairvoyant and clairaudient or have a conversation with the sensitive and honest Matthew? You may find that romance with that special someone is closer than you think!

Dating on a Budget

clock April 18, 2012 16:17 by author Charlotte

In the current climate, dating may not be top on your list of priorities; however, even when money is tight dating can still be fun and exciting! We are all still recovering from the recession however you don’t need to break the bank to impress someone, and coming up with imaginative and new ways to date show you can be creative and unique. Psychic Light has put together a few ‘cheap date’ ideas that you can try out, allowing you to have a great time without spending a penny!

  1. Walks – When the weather is good in Britain it can be the most scenic and beautiful country in the world! Explore your local area with your date, walks in the park, seaside or countryside or even around the town can be a great way to get to know each other without spending a thing.

  2. Picnic – Picnics are a great alternative to going out for lunch, as they allow you to keep to a low budget when it comes to buying food and drink. You can make the picnic as romantic as you like, and you could even surprise your date by planning the day out in advance.

  3. Lunch – If your date suggests going out for dinner and you fear you may not be able to afford it then suggest going for coffee or drinks instead. You can feel as though your still in the same environment but you won’t be picking up such a large bill.

  4. Staying in – Dates such as going to the cinema and eating out can start to build up. Don’t try and impress your date by spending money that you don’t have. Renting a film costs half as much as the cinema. Pick a film you know your date will like and they’ll thank you for the thought and effort you have put in. Remember they may appreciate staying in just as much as going out, and they will probably be tight on money as well. Putting in the extra effort by cooking your date a meal can be inexpensive and just as delicious. Add in some candles and music and you have the perfect romantic date!

  5. Explore your local area – Check out things that are free to do in your local area online. Museums and parks usually have free admission, and if you live near a city a lot of local bands will frequently put on free shows that you could go and see. Have a look on voucher sites such as Groupon, as they regularly update the site with discounts and vouchers for local attractions. You can find discounted admission for things like theme parks, zoos, and sports games, as well as romantic getaways and meals. The site is updated every day so make sure you keep checking!

  6. Play sports – If you are both active and enjoy keeping fit then playing sports together can be a great way to have fun and get to know each other. Going for a run, taking a class or going swimming can get you both feeling great. Exercise releases a certain chemical that gets you burning calories as well as bringing out your positive energy!

Finally, remember that for a date to be successful you don’t have to spend large amounts of money. Your date is out with you because they want you to spend quality time together, not for the fancy meals or extravagant gestures. A little creative thought and imagination can make a great date as well as leaving you with a little extra money in your pocket!

Dating After Divorce

clock April 11, 2012 15:02 by author Charlotte

Statistics show that divorce rates are on the rise, meaning more of us out there are single and once again looking for love. Being in a relationship with someone for a significant amount of time can change the way we view single life and putting yourself back on the dating scene can be daunting and an unwanted consequence of your split. Rather than shying away we have some tips which may make post-divorce dating easier and more enjoyable.

Recent data published by the Office for National Statistics has shown the number of couples getting divorced actually increased by 4.9% from 2009 to 2010, so you are certainly not alone if you are in this statistic. The data also revealed that almost a fifth of men and women that were divorced had been divorced before, which showed that they were prepared to try marriage again. So if you were thinking that divorce puts an end to you finding your true soul mate then be optimistic. It may just be that you haven’t met them yet.

It’s inevitable that it will take some time for you to even consider dating again but once you have made the decision then don’t waste any time getting out there! Dating can be a great mood enhancer which gives you the opportunity to meet new people and experience new things, even if you aren’t ready to commit or get married again. Only you know when you are ready to date again and there is no rule on how long this may be, just trust your gut instinct and go with it. Don’t rush into anything that you aren’t ready for, as getting over a marriage with someone you really cared about can take time and a lot of healing. Talk your feelings through with someone you can trust. You may find that a lot of people have been in the same situation as you and can give you great advice on how to approach single life. If you don’t feel like you can talk to anyone you know then a call to Psychic Light could give you support and guidance that you need to move on from a divorce.

Once you start dating again you may feel out of practise or behind on the times if you have been in a relationship for a long period, but it won’t take you long to get familiar with the dating scene once again. Certain dating rules never get old. Making sure you’re on time, paying attention to your date and not coming on too strong all still apply and can ensure your date runs as smoothly as possible! If you are perhaps a little apprehensive about getting back into the dating scene and are looking for advice on how to date online, then we published an article titled 'Love in the Modern Age' which has some great, simple tips that you can follow.

It’s important that you try not to fall back into old habits, meeting up with your ex after your divorce has been finalised may feel safe and familiar but it probably won’t be doing either of you any good. Make a clean break and if you have tied up all the loose ends regarding your relationship there is no reason to keep in constant contact with your ex. Once you have done this then you can start to move on and start being open to finding somebody else. However if you have children with a previous partner then this may complicate things a little. It’s important to be supportive and to acknowledge your child’s feelings in this situation. Communication is key, so make sure you talk things through straight away if they feel uncomfortable or distressed to ensure you don’t run into any long term problems. Introducing your children to a new partner is a big step, so make sure you are committed to the relationship before allowing them to form a bond with your loved ones.

Finally, the most important thing is to stay positive and have fun! Divorce is often seen by many as the end of their love life, however with a positive attitude there is no reason why someone who is divorced cannot be successful in love a second, third or fourth time round. Dating can give you a fresh lease of life, and confirmation of what a great person you really are. It may also give you the incentive to concentrate on yourself again, join a gym and have some ‘you time’. Once you start feeling confident and believing in yourself again then you can start to feel happy with your love life, no matter what your situation may be.

Making a Clean Break

clock April 4, 2012 13:05 by author Charlotte

Breaking up is hard to do and for some people staying broken up is even harder. If you have been with somebody for a long period of time, being suddenly on your own can be a daunting prospect and it may feel easier to go back to your ex for comfort. However a failure to make that clean break generally leads to more heartache for both parties in the long term. If your relationship is at breaking point and you want to make a clean break then the following advice can help set you on a positive path to healing.

After making the decision to break up with someone, it is common for people to back out and avoid having ‘the talk’ altogether in order to save you and your partner the heartbreak, the tears and the unwanted drama. However committing yourself to the break up and being direct and honest with your partner is the first step to making a clean break from the relationship.

Make sure you are consistent in stating that the relationship is over as sending your partner confused signals will only give them hope that there is a chance of getting back together, when you know that is not what you want. There is a good chance that your partner will ask for a second chance and that they will change their behaviour that caused the breakup in the first place. Be prepared for this and keep reminding yourself of the reasons you decided to split, and stick to them. Giving second chances may only lead to you giving them for the third, fourth, fifth time etc. and you can end up getting stuck in a relationship rut.

Once you have made the commitment to break up, and your partner has accepted that it is over, it is crucial that you stick to being on your own. Go out and embrace your new found single life. You may be surprised at the life and freedom you have been missing out on while you have been in a relationship. Taking your mind off the break up is guaranteed to stop you from slipping back into old habits and going back to your ex, so take up something new, go out and meet new people and see how much your pain lessens.

Dwelling on your old relationship is unhealthy, and social networking sites can make this even harder. Constantly checking up on what your ex is doing hinders the healing process, and you may find yourself longing after them and your broken relationship. It’s a big step but deleting or blocking your partner from your Facebook or Twitter sites can make a huge difference to the way you move on. ‘Out of sight out of mind’ certainly applies here and restricting the amount of time you spend on their account will limit the amount of time they are in your thoughts.

Making a clean break from a relationship may not make the break up any easier and it will almost certainly still be a distressing time for both of you. However, following these tips can ensure that you cut down on the harmful to-ing and fro-ing that makes breaking up so much harder. An investment in a clean break can ensure you both move on in a healthy and positive way, and in the end your partner will thank you for it.

If you are finding it hard to recover from a break up then one of our readers may be able to help. Calling Psychic Light can help you to see the bigger picture and give you the guidance and support you need to make a clean break.

The Pursuit of Happiness

clock March 28, 2012 15:56 by author Charlotte

Over the past few weeks we have been asking what the key to our happiness really is and whether changing parts of your life can lead to a happier future. There are many factors that can get us down and prevent us from enjoying a fulfilled life, from work and money issues to appearance and relationships, but do all these things really matter when we put them into perspective? Everyone is striving to change aspects of their life for happiness but are they missing the point? At Psychic Light we believe that life is for living and we can help you realise this.

Many of the surveys we looked at in the last few posts suggested that the majority of us aren’t happy with our work/life balance, the way we look or our financial status. Making small changes to your life may make a short term difference however the real key to long term happiness lies in you. We are all unique and the things that make us truly happy may differ from person to person. ‘Having it all’ may seem like the most important thing sometimes; however it is very possible to be satisfied with the simple things in life. Whether it is a strong family unit, security or just being content in your own skin, there are many things that we should be more thankful for but often overlook.

Talking to one of our psychic readers can help you to appreciate these things and can help you to see things more clearly, giving you an understanding of what makes you happiest. Some of us may look at others lives and feel the need to compare them, leading us to feel envious and resentful. However, whether its material possessions or someone’s appearance it can be dangerous to covet what others have and we can often end up wishing our lives away. Always striving for more can lead to disappointment and frustration. Remember that the grass isn’t always greener, and focusing on the things that you do have can help you to be able to look at your life and feel content.

It has been shown in a study that people who prioritised family goals rather than focusing on material or career success were happier, so worrying about things that don’t really matter will not bring you the same amount of life satisfaction as concentrating on children, parents or your partner. Added factors that affected participant’s happiness included things like regular exercise, a healthy social life, and a focus on selfless goals. Seeking material success may be the key to temporary happiness; however lifelong contentment comes from concentrating on the things that really matter in life.

Many of our psychics are also trained counsellors with years of professional experience, so you will be in safe hands when talking through your worries. So why not give us a call and see how you could improve your outlook on life and if you aren’t feeling so positive you may find that talking to one of our readers gives you the support you need in order to go on and live a happier life.

Happy In Your Own Skin?

clock March 21, 2012 10:11 by author Charlotte

Psychic Readings - Shy

A recent survey done by Real magazine has shown that only 3% of women in the UK are completely happy with their bodies. It also revealed that around 73% of them thought about their size or shape every single day, meaning the majority of women are unhappy with how they look. We are constantly being shown images of attractive, confident women on television, in magazines and in advertising all around us, so it is no surprise that a lot of us compare ourselves to these images of perfection, and why we often get frustrated at not being able to achieve it. With 84% of the surveys respondents admitting to dieting at some point in their lives, the majority of women questioned wanted to be slimmer, and some even stated they would resort to plastic surgery in order to lose weight. So with so many of the UK’s women unhappy with their body, we have some tips on how to become comfortable in your own skin.

The first step to feeling more confident is to accept your body and the way you look. Understand that nobody is perfect and trying to achieve this is impossible and can only lead to feeling negative thoughts and feelings. Respect and focus on the things that you love about yourself and you will learn to love the things that you don’t.

One way to ensure you stay healthy in your body and your mind is to keep active. Exercise is a proven mood enhancer and can give you a great confidence boost which will then reflect on how others see you. There are hundreds of ways to stay active which don’t cost any money. Jogging, walking and cycling are all guaranteed to boost your endorphins without affecting your bank balance and can help you to reduce stress, relieve pain and generally make you feel better about yourself.

Feeling constantly self conscious and preoccupied with what others think about you, makes it hard to concentrate on just being yourself. However, others are not judging you as harshly as you think. Once you stop focussing on what people think then you can start asserting yourself in the way that you would like to. They will then see the confident, positive person that you truly are.

If you feel like you need support and reassurance in becoming more comfortable in your own skin then a call to Psychic Light could help. All of our readers are experienced in giving advice and can give you the guidance that you need to be body confident. One of our readers Monique gives honest and straightforward readings and can help you to feel more positive. She states: “I will look at your future path and see where new and exciting things may be coming in and how things will develop. I am happy to look at any aspect of your life and I want to leave my clients with hope, faith and a refreshed, uplifted feeling."

Another of our readers Solomon is a seasoned counsellor who has worked across the UK to assist in areas of personal development and self-growth. He states he will “help you look inside to find the necessary strength to embrace a better tomorrow right now!”

Feeling comfortable in your own skin is a long journey but it is worth it once you get there. Remember that Psychic Light can give you the guidance you need to accept the way you look and that you are not on your own in your journey.

Work / Life Balance

clock March 14, 2012 10:21 by author Charlotte

A report released earlier this year has shown that the UK has only come 17th out of 23 countries who best maintain a healthy work life balance, rating way behind countries such as France, Germany and Canada. But what is it that makes us here in the UK fall so far behind in making sure our personal lives are in balance with our work?

The report, done by the OECD, showed that 12% of the UK’s population are working very long hours (more than 50 a week) and only spending around 15.6 hours on leisure and personal care, which includes pursuing hobbies, eating, and spending time with family and friends. The poll also revealed that the employment rate from women with children was 67%, meaning well over half of us are trying to work long hours whilst trying to take care of a family. While many of us handle our work life balance as best we can, failing to take care of it can cause stress and lead to long term illnesses such as depression and mental health problems. General balance in life can lead to better a mental state, and helps us to enjoy our lives more. Spending all your time focusing on work related matters can start to take over and cause you to ignore other areas of your life which may result in breakdowns of relationships and loss of social skills.

If you feel like this sounds familiar, and that your life is starting to become more work focused then there are things you can do to regain your balance. Where possible, it is better to work closer to home. Long commutes and nights away from home can have a knock on effect on yourself and your family, and if there is an option for you to still work effectively at a location nearer home or even at home then you may want to consider doing this if you are worried. If this is not a possible option for you then look into cutting your commute down in time. Trains may be less convenient than driving; however they are often a much quicker way to travel and could even cut your journey time down by half.

A healthy work life balance isn’t just about where you work but also about when and how you work. If you feel like you are working too many extra hours after work, explain to your employer how this is affecting you and discuss options that may be able to make this better for you. How much you can do to change your working culture depends on what your job is and who you work for, however just making your employer aware of how you feel may turn out to be beneficial.

Having a healthy work life balance is particularly important for parents who want to spend as much time as they can with their children and maximising your time together will benefit you both. Make sure that you make the most of the time that you do have with your family. Planning activities to do in advance means that you won’t waste any of your time together.

For many of us, work demands may seem more urgent, however spending time on yourself and your family matters most of all. Don’t allow yourself to fall victim to an unhealthy work life balance, and you will find that life feels more positive and worthwhile!
